• Tip #1: Keep the water fresh

The water should be replaced with fresh, cool water every 2 to 3 days.

  • Tip #2: Sugar and bleach

A teaspoon each of sugar and bleach is better than any flower food.

  • Tip #3: Cut the stems at an angle

Trimming your stems at a 45º angle will allow the flower to drink up more water.

  • Tip #4: Keep away from heat

Cut flowers wilt if kept in the direct sunlight or a heat source for too long. Keep them in a cooler place in order to extend the life of the flowers.

  • Tip #5: Remove any spent blooms

Remove brown pieces as they dry and wilt. This will keep bacteria out of the water and help the remaining stems to last longer.

  • Tip #6: Embrace the aging process

Find beauty in the decay. Bind any stems you wish to preserve, and hang dry them in a windowsill.
